1) How do these slides differ from ones I can make myself?
Insti-fluor slides are identical to slides that you make yourself when following the instructions on this website. However, concentrations of fluorophores are difficult to obtain using the equipment available to CST members. These slides make it easy.
Insti-Spore slides are part of the CST SOP for detecting Bacillus sp. endospores. They are a direct replacement for the liquid procedure (MAA/EtOH) presently part of the SOP.
Insti-Spore Si3 is a complete test kit consisting of liquid Treatment vials and Test Slides.
2) How long will Insti-fluor slides last?
All Insti-slides are guaranteed to remain effective for at least one (1) year when stored in a cool and dry place.
3) How do I store Insti-Fluor slides?
Slides should be stored at room temperature away from moisture.
4) How do I use Insti-Fluor, Insti-Spore, and/or Insti-SporeSi3 slides?
Peel off the top paper layer, add 10μl liquid suspension of your unknown to the center of the detection area, dry the slide at 42C for about 5 minutes, add 7µl immersion oil, apply a coverslip to the slide and lightly press down to seal the slide, decontaminate as per your usual SOP.
If you are testing for possible fluidized endospores you must use the Insti-Spore Si3 kit and follow the treatment instructions included with the kit (or here).
All Insti-slides are for fluorescence microscope detection, so use the appropriate excitation wavelength. See the following pages for more details:
5) Is there a guarantee on these slides?
Yes. The slides are guaranteed to be effective for at least one year if stored correctly. If you are unsatisfied with your purchase contact us and we will send you another kit or refund your money.
6) Do you accept direct payment using credit cards?
Unfortunately No. We no longer have a web store. Most products are available on ComSupCen, however if you want other slide kits not available there please contact us. We can work something out.
